ESRA MEMBERS HAVE SPOKEN: EGA OUTCOMES AND WHAT COMES NEXT

On 18 May 2026, ESRA members came together online for an Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) with an important objective: to ensure continuity, stability and a clear path forward for the Society during a period of transition.

The meeting provided an opportunity for members to receive updates, ask questions, share their views and participate directly in decisions concerning the immediate future of ESRA.

The strong participation and engagement once again demonstrated one of ESRA’s greatest strengths: a committed membership that cares deeply about the Society and its future.

Following presentation and discussion, members voted to ratify the proposed interim leadership arrangements that will support ESRA until the next regular electoral cycle during the Annual Congress in Lisbon.

The outcome provides clarity and continuity, allowing the Society to maintain momentum and focus on what matters most: supporting members, delivering education, advancing science and preparing for the next chapter.

What does this mean in practice?

For members, it means continuity.

ESRA activities continue as planned:
• Educational programmes and webinars
• Congress preparation
• Committees and working groups
• Scientific initiatives
• Member engagement activities
• Preparation for the upcoming elections

It also means that the Society can now focus its energy on the future.

What happens next?

Over the coming months, work will continue on several priorities:
→ preparation of the regular elections process
→ continued support to committees and educational activities
→ organisational continuity and ongoing projects
→ preparation for meetings and decisions taking place in Lisbon

Members will continue to receive updates as milestones are reached.

The Annual Congress in Lisbon will represent an important moment for ESRA—not only scientifically, but also as an opportunity to meet, reconnect and look ahead together.

A summary of the Extraordinary General Assembly minutes and related documents will be made available through the usual ESRA communication channels.

Thank you once again to every member who participated and contributed to this process.

The future of ESRA continues to be built with and by its members.
