Neuromodulation is a technique often misunderstood and misinterpreted in pain management. It is still considered a highly complex “chronic pain management” procedure to perform. Several simple techniques use neuromodulation and neurostimulation in acute pain settings. These can be very effective as a part of truly multimodal analgesia regimen and techniques to learn from each other to treat the acute on chronic pain patients and acute perioperative period to change incidence of PPSP and reduce or avoid opioid overuse.
