EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The main focus of the Workshop is on enhancing knowledge of human anatomy related to specific nerve blockades as well as safe performance of nerve blockades using ultrasound, peripheral nerve stimulator, or their combination.

After active engagement in this course the participant will be able:

  • To describe topographic anatomy and course of the nerves as well as of relevant surrounding structures.
  • To identify anatomic and sonographic landmarks of standard approaches for clinically common performed nerve blocks.
  • To list indications, contraindications and potential complications of common performed peripheral nerve blocks to explain the use and role of specific nerve blocks for surgery and postoperative pain management and rehabilitation.

This workshop has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®)
for a maximum of 10 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

The EACCME® is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credits to AMA credits can be found at www.ama-assn.org/education/earn-credit-participation-international-activities.
