ESRA designed this workshop for anaesthesiology residents who want to get started in the art of regional anaesthesia.

At a very attractive price and in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, beginners can learn basic anatomy and regional blocks with hands-on sessions and simulation in emergency situations and common complications associated with regional anaesthesia.

The course is hold in two locations:

Venue 1 – Hospital das Forças Armadas, Pólo Porto – for hands on workshops
and
Venue 2 – Porto University’s Simulation Center, Porto – for simulations only

The venue 1 is shortly described in programme as Hospital and the venue 2 as Simulation centre. Organiser is responsible for transport between locations.

Closure of the course at Hospital

  • Each group (A, B, C and D) consists of 3 subgroups with 6 participants
  • There are a total of 9 hands-on-workshop:
    – POCUS: airway, gastric, thoracic
    – Shoulder: interscalene, supraclavicular brachial plexus block
    – Elbow and Hand: infraclavicular, axillary
    – Hand: terminal branches radial, ulnar, median
    – Hip: Lateral Cutaneous, Femoral, Fascia Iliaca, PENG
    – Knee: Femoral Triangle, Aductor Canal, Sciatic popliteal approach
    – Foot: Ankle block
    – Abdominal Wall: TAP subcostal and lateral approach, rectus sheath, ilioinguinal
    – Thoracic wall: Pectoserratus block, Erector spine
  • Each subgroup (6 participants) will rotate every hands-on-workshop (60min per workstation).
  • Simulation scenarios will be played by 3 participants directly in the simulator room and indirectly to the rest of the group in theteaching room though video display. Joint debriefing and discussion of the scenario is to take place after every simulation scenario.
  • Simulation scenarios:
    – Total spinal
    – LAST
    – Epidural Hematoma
    – Mal-function peripheral nerve catheter
    – Compartment syndrome
    – Embolic cement syndrome
    – Post Dural Puncture Headache
    – Neurologic Nerve damage after regional anaesthesia

  • Please ensure that the name of the Workshop and of the participant are stated on the bank transfer.
  • Bank charges are the responsibility of the participant and should be paid at source in addition to the registration fees.

  • Registration will only be valid upon receipt of the full payment by the registration department according to the deadline indicated. An email confirming registration will only be sent after receipt of the required fees.
  • Outstanding payments will be collected on-site and charged with the on-site rate. A copy of the bank transfer (or other proof of payment) will be required in the event that registration fees were not credited to the Society account on time.

REGISTRATION CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be electronically mailed to office@esraeurope.org
Refund of registration fee will be as follows:

  • Cancellations received until and including March 3rd, 2024 – full refund
  • Cancellations received between March 4th to 31st, 2024 – 50% will be refunded
  • As of April 1st – no refund will be made

Note, that in case of an offline payment the 30 Euro bank transfer charge will not be reimbursed.

The EDRA points for the 35th ESRA RA Cadaver Workshop are the following:

Total: 9.5 points
Hands-on Cadaver: 3.5 points
Hands-on Ultrasound 3.5 points
Other points: 2.5 points

These points will be shown on the Certificate of Attendance delivered upon completion of the feedback survey.

Accreditation Statement and Credit Designation

The 6th ESRA Residents & Trainees Workshop, Porto, Portugal, 19/04/2024-20/04/2024 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 16.0 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found at https://edhub.ama-assn.org/pages/applications

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Credit Breakdown

Each participant can only receive the number of credits he/she is entitled to according to his/her actual participation at the event once he/she has completed the feedback form. Cf. criteria 22 of UEMS 2023.07.
In order to help you issue individual certificates to each participants, please find below the breakdown of ECMEC®s per day:

The EACCME® awards ECMEC®s on the basis of 0,5 ECMEC® for 30 minutes of CME with a maximum of 8 ECMEC®s per day. cf. Chapter XIII of UEMS 2023.07.

Certificates

A feedback survey will be sent by email to all participants after completion of the event. Once this form completed, your certificate will be delivered after the deadline date. Please contact events@esraeurope.org should you need to receive it earlier.
